‘The Straits’ restaurant was opened in April 2009, by Phil Williams (head chef) and Lucy Geach (front of house manager and dessert chef/baker). We offer a diverse menu to suit all tastes and pockets. For instance, our ‘Fabulous fixed-price Menu’ is very popular and great value, but is always served alongside our impressive ‘A la carte’ menu, which caters for diners looking for an even wider choice.
Phil learnt his cooking skills from his Dad, who trained him from boyhood in his busy restaurant on the Wirral. His father trained in Belize and the Creole quarter of New Orleans, where Phil was born, and passed his passion for the flavours and ingredients of Cajun cookery on to his son. In ‘The Straits’, Phil adds a modern twist to classic recipes, offering dishes that are a little bit different.
We pride ourselves on offering exceptional homemade food, a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere and warm and friendly service. Everything we serve is freshly cooked on the premises, and we source many of our ingredients locally, using Welsh meats, cheeses and ice-cream. The restaurant is truly committed to supporting the bakeries, butchers and farmers of North Wales as much as we can.
